Longview Public Library unveils self-service internet
More convenience, more choices, more flexibility! Longview Public Library has upgraded the public access computers to a self-service internet reservation system – PC Reservation. The new system will allow library patrons and guests to make their own appointments for internet access at newly installed kiosks in the library beginning in July.
Patrons will use their library cards to set appointments for next available computers, appointments by day and time, or to immediately access an available machine. Guests will still be able to use internet computers, but will need to get a guest pass from the information desk. Each guest pass is good for one day.
In addition to being able to set your own internet appointment, patrons will be able to see what they are printing before they pay for the printouts at the print management kiosk. No more surprises and paying for printouts you weren’t expecting! Users will see the pages to be printed and can pay for them and print or delete them without paying and without wasting paper. Patrons using laptops with Microsoft Office software will be able to print to the library printer through Wi-Fi, too.
The new system will be activated this July. Come in and make yourself a reservation! More information can be found at www.longviewlibrary.org or by calling 442-5300.
