Advanced Excavating Specialists (AES) has completed new 12-inch water main installation on Beech St. between 14th Ave. and the alley between 19th Ave. and 20th Ave. Chlorination and testing is complete as well as tie-ins to the existing water main at 14th Ave. and the alley between 19th Ave. and 20th Ave. Some connections between the new water main on Beech St. and water lines along the alleys still need to be completed.
AES has installed the majority of new 8” waterline in the alley between 16th Ave. and 17th Ave. with approximately 400’ remaining between Baltimore St. and Nichols Blvd. The water line in the alley has been chlorinated and tested from Beech St. to Baltimore St. Crews are currently installing services in the alley from Beech St. to Nichols Blvd. and expect to have all new services complete prior to December 25, 2013. The new 8” waterline is expected to be complete and fully in service by January 11, 2014. Remaining work including pavement repairs, clean-up, and final restoration is scheduled for completion in March 2014, but is dependent upon weather conditions. Residents in the area may experience temporary water quality impacts as a result of construction.
Local access to the alley will be maintained but may be limited during construction. Driveways will be temporarily blocked as work progresses in the alley but AES will work with residents individually to minimize impacts. Garbage/recycling schedules may be impacted, but AES and the City will coordinate pickup to ensure customers don’t experience any disruption in service. The current lane closure on Beech St. is expected to remain in place for the next week to provide adequate staging for AES. Baltimore St. and Cypress St. will be re-opened by January 11, 2013. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
