Zoning Code Update – Longview Municipal Code Title 19
The City is undertaking a major evaluation of its zoning code. The last encompassing evaluation and update of the City’s zoning and subdivision regulations was completed in 1967, over 40 years ago. Updates of the three major zoning categories; residential, commercial and industrial are complete. The Planning Commission is now in the process of reviewing the miscellaneous zoning districts and the administrative portions of the zoning code (Longview Municipal Code Title 19 Zoning).
The City of Longview Comprehensive Plan 2006 provides guidance on what the City should be addressing as it updates its zoning code. The Comprehensive Plan’s Chapter 10
identifies the action plan, objectives, and recommendations for when the zoning code revisions should be accomplished.
The City of Longview Planning Commission is responsible for guiding the update process. Steve Langdon, Longview’s Planning Manager, is the project manager. His phone number is 360.442.5083. Comments or questions can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
As draft code sections are developed and approved for release by the Planning Commission, they will be posted on this site. Periodically, the City will hold public hearings or other public events to inform the public and receive comments. Announcements of these events will also be posted on this site.
The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposal to eliminate the Riverfront District and rezone the area R-4 Residential District. The hearing is scheduled for their Wednesday, April 3, 2013 regular meeting. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and is held in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 1525 Broadway Street. Links to the draft code amendment and a map showing the location of the Riverfront District are provided below in the “Important Links” box. Also provided are tables comparing the permitted uses, development standards and sign standards for three zoning districts: Riverfront District, R-4 Residential District, and Neighborhood Commercial District.
