Fleet Services Recognized for Excellence

The City of Longview’s Fleet Services Division has been named one of the 100 most efficient fleet operations in North America by Government Fleet magazine. The sponsors of the competition are Invers Mobility Solutions, Government Fleet magazine, and the 100 Best Fleets in North America program.

There are over 38,000 public fleet departments in North America. Nearly 2,000 applications were sent out to fleets identified as being superior by their peers, other national recognitions, site visits by the judges, and best business practices. The judges were a panel of former top-ranked fleet managers and other fleet professional experts.

Longview was regarded as exceptional based on the program’s twelve criteria, including uses of technology, accountability, pricing, customer service, innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvements. The City was recognized especially for its working environment, productivity, and ability to bring to the public sector a quality missing in many municipalities -- a sense of urgency. Other outstanding features of the City’s program are the introduction of alternative fuels and other green initiatives including the use of technology and downsizing of vehicles.

The Fleet Services Division is a reflection of the City’s culture of excellence. They advise River City Transit, the police and fire departments, as well as reside on the advisory board for Lower Columbia College. Fleet Services provides exceptional service to all departments within the City and has extended this excellence to other local entities such as Longview Soccer Club, CAP, and the City of Kalama.

The City’s Fleet Services Division was also recognized in 2010 as one of the top 100 Fleets in North America.
