Project READ Literacy Tutors Needed
Posted Date: 8/12/2014
Do you want to help out in the community? Do you have two hours per week to teach someone new skills? Would you like to help someone reach their goals of reading, speaking English, getting a GED, or improving literacy skills? If so, Longview Public Library’s adult literacy program, Project READ, needs you! We are looking for creative, caring, and patient volunteers willing to give two hours a week to help an adult improve literacy skills and reach life goals.

Project READ matches volunteer tutors with adult learners to work one-on-one in the Longview Library. Sessions are typically twice a week for one hour. If you have a vacation scheduled, don’t worry, we can work with your schedule. Volunteers are asked to make a six-month commitment, but are welcome to stay longer.

The literacy coordinator provides resources, direction, tutor training and ongoing support. Training is self-paced at home or in the Library. Please call Elizabeth Partridge at 442-5321 for more information and to sign up to help someone in our community.

You make a difference. Share your love of learning. Become a tutor at Project READ.
