Emergency Water Main Replacement Project update 11-26
Posted Date: 11/26/2013
Advanced Excavating Specialists (AES) has completed the remainder of the new 12-inch water main on Beech Street from 16th Avenue to 20th Avenue. This section of new main will be put into service this week following chlorination and testing. Final tie-in’s will also be made this week to connect the new main to existing mains on 20th Avenue and Oregon Way.

AES is removing concrete in the alley between 16th and 17th Avenues from Beech Street to Nichols Blvd and has begun installing new 8-inch water main in the alley from Beech Street moving north. City crews have made a new tie-in at Nichols Blvd and, in early December, AES will mobilize additional crews to begin installing new 8-inch water main in the alley from Nichols Blvd moving south. As each block is completed, the new sections of main will be tested and chlorinated so customer service lines can be moved over as soon as possible. All customer services are expected to be moved over by January 11, 2014. Remaining work, pavement repairs, clean-up and final restoration will be complete in early March, 2014. Residents in the area may experience temporary water quality impacts as a result of construction.

Local access to the alley will be maintained but may be limited during construction. Driveways will be temporarily blocked as work progresses in the alley but AES will work with residents individually to minimize impacts. Garbage/recycling schedules may be impacted but AES and the City will coordinate pickup to ensure customers don’t experience any disruption in service. Lane closures can be expected on Oregon Way, Beech Street, Baltimore Street and Nichols Blvd. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
